Our Recovery Room at Concept Fitness is designed to help you reduce muscle soreness, improve circulation, decrease stress, and optimize both physical and mental performance. Whether you’re recovering from an intense workout, preparing for your next competition, or simply taking time to recharge, our recovery services are here to help.
Experience the benefits of deep, dry heat to relax tight muscles, increase circulation, promote recovery, and provide a peaceful escape from the demands of everyday life.
Infrared heat warms the body from within, helping to reduce inflammation, support muscle recovery, improve circulation, and encourage relaxation at a lower, more comfortable temperature than a traditional sauna.
Cold water immersion is one of the most effective recovery tools available. Reduce muscle soreness, decrease inflammation, boost circulation, sharpen mental focus, and leave feeling refreshed and energized.
Take your recovery to the next level by alternating between heat and cold. Contrast therapy combines the benefits of the sauna and cold plunge to help improve circulation, speed recovery, reduce muscle fatigue, and promote overall wellness.

Concept Crew offers year-round competitive rowing for middle school and high school athletes who want to develop into stronger, faster, and more confident competitors.
Our program combines elite rowing instruction with strength and conditioning, mobility, mental toughness, and race preparation. Athletes train on the water during the fall, spring, and summer, while winter focuses on indoor rowing, strength training, and aerobic development to build a foundation for the racing season.
More than a rowing program, Concept Crew is a college development program. We teach athletes the sport of rowing from the ground up while developing the discipline, work ethic, and confidence needed to succeed at the highest level. As athletes progress, we guide them through the entire college recruiting process—from building a competitive rowing résumé and communicating with college coaches to navigating recruiting timelines and showcasing their abilities. Our mission is not only to develop great rowers, but to help student-athletes earn opportunities and gain acceptance into the college of their dreams.
Whether you’re new to rowing or striving to compete at the collegiate level, our experienced coaching staff provides individualized coaching and mentorship every step of the way.

This class emphasizes strength training, incorporating a variety of equipment such as sleds, dumbbells, barbells, sandbags, and medicine balls. Bodyweight exercises like pull-ups and push-ups may also be included. Each workout is adaptable to suit individual goals and preferences. Today's session will involve less rowing, with a primary focus on building strength.

Strong and Fit is a dynamic blend of weightlifting and rowing, designed to build strength and endurance. Each session challenges you with either EMOM (Every Minute on the Minute) or AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible) formats, ensuring you push your limits every time. We lift to build muscle, then hit the rower to boost your cardio—this is the perfect class to get both strong and fit.

Max Work Wednesday is the ultimate test of endurance and strength! This high-intensity class combines rowing with functional weight training to push your limits. For one hour, we’ll focus on getting as many reps, rounds, and calories as possible. Whether you’re aiming to build muscle, increase stamina, or just crush a mid-week workout, this session will leave you feeling stronger and accomplished. Ready to see how far you can go? Let’s get to work!

Steady Burn is all about endurance and strength. This session focuses on longer rowing intervals paired with bodybuilding movements to build a solid aerobic base. During this class, we prioritize proper form and honor the stroke, ensuring each movement is performed with precision. It’s the perfect opportunity to train in a recovery zone, while still challenging yourself. Whether you're looking to improve your stamina or add variety to your training, this class helps you develop a strong foundation for your fitness goals. Slow and steady wins the race!

Strong Friday is the wild card of the week at Concept Fitness—a celebration of all things fitness! You never know what to expect, but it’s always a good time. Whether we’re skiing, rowing, biking, or mixing in functional strength training movements, this class keeps you on your toes and pushes your limits. Come ready for anything and leave feeling stronger and energized to kick off your weekend!

Sweat and Shred is a high-energy, fat-burning workout designed to keep you torching calories long after the class ends. In this 50-minute HIIT session, we alternate between intense rowing intervals and AMRAP circuits to maximize your effort and keep your heart rate up. Get ready to push your limits, sweat hard, and shred through fat while building strength and endurance. Row, AMRAP, row—it’s time to create energy and results!

Concept Crew Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making the life-changing sport of rowing accessible to every young person, regardless of financial circumstances or previous athletic experience.
We believe rowing is more than a sport. It teaches discipline, resilience, leadership, accountability, teamwork, and confidence—qualities that help students succeed not only in competition, but in school, college, careers, and life.
Our mission is simple: remove barriers, develop athletes, and create opportunities.

At Concept Crew Foundation, we are committed to introducing middle and high school students to the sport of rowing while building strong, healthy, confident young adults.
Through expert coaching, strength and conditioning, mentorship, leadership development, and college recruiting guidance, we help athletes discover what they are truly capable of.
Whether a student dreams of rowing in college, competing nationally, or simply finding a positive community, our goal is to give every athlete the opportunity to grow.

Talent should never be limited by financial circumstances.
The Girls in Rowing Scholarship provides deserving young women with the opportunity to train year-round with Concept Crew Foundation.
Scholarship recipients receive access to:
• Learn to Row instruction
• Year-round rowing training
• Strength and conditioning
• College recruiting guidance
• Leadership and mentorship
• Competitive racing opportunities
• Team apparel and support
Applications are reviewed much like a college scholarship. We look for motivated young women who demonstrate character, work ethic, academic commitment, and the desire to grow both as athletes and as leaders.
Our goal is to identify the next generation of talented female rowers and provide opportunities that can change the course of their lives.

Everyone starts somewhere.
Our Learn to Row program introduces beginners to one of the fastest-growing collegiate sports in America.
Athletes learn:
• Water safety
• Boat handling
• Rowing technique
• Teamwork
• Strength and conditioning fundamentals
• Confidence on and off the water
No experience is necessary. We welcome students of all athletic backgrounds.

Our Summer Rowing Camp combines on-the-water instruction with strength training and fitness education.
Each day includes:
• On-water rowing instruction
• Ergometer training
• Strength and conditioning
• Team-building activities
• Leadership development
• Fun games and challenges
Whether students are trying rowing for the first time or preparing for the fall racing season, camp provides an exciting environment where athletes improve every day.

At Concept Crew, we don’t simply teach rowing—we build athletes.
Our coaching philosophy emphasizes:
• Character before results
• Technical excellence
• Physical preparation
• Mental toughness
• Accountability
• Leadership
• Respect for teammates and competitors
These lessons extend far beyond the boathouse and help prepare students for success in every area of life.

The impact of Concept Crew extends well beyond the finish line.
Our athletes have:
• Earned opportunities to compete at NCAA Division I rowing programs
• Received athletic scholarship offers
• Competed at national regattas
• Developed lifelong friendships and leadership skills
• Gained confidence through sport
• Returned to mentor the next generation of athletes
Many of our former athletes now return to coach and inspire today’s rowers, creating a tradition of excellence that continues to grow.

We are proud of the student-athletes who have continued their rowing careers at the collegiate level.
Recent college commitments include:
• Duke University
• Vanderbilt University
• University of Delaware
• Loyola University Maryland
• LIU
• Iona
Every college commitment represents years of hard work, dedication, and the support of an entire community.

The generosity of our community makes our mission possible.
Support from donors, grant organizations, local businesses, and corporate sponsors allows us to provide scholarships, purchase equipment, expand programming, and create opportunities for more young athletes.

From D1 athlete to stronger than ever.
Concept Fitness helped me become stronger than I ever was as a former Division I athlete. Since joining, I’ve become pain-free, completed my first HYROX race, earned podium finishes at local competitions, stayed active through two pregnancies, and am now focused on my second postpartum recovery.
Beyond the workouts, I’ve learned the importance of strength training, nutrition, recovery, and mindset. The coaching feels like personal training in a group setting, and the support from this community has completely changed my confidence and my approach to fitness.
One of my favorite memories was working out alongside my mom and watching her overcome her own health challenges. It reminded me that Concept Fitness truly meets people wherever they are in their journey.
Favorite classes: 5 AM, Silver Strength, and HYROX Sundays.
My advice: You have to experience it to understand it. Stay consistent, try different class times, and you’ll quickly see why this community is so special.

Member since: Summer 2024
In just one year at Concept Fitness, I’ve become stronger, more confident, and more consistent than I ever thought possible. With Lizzy and Rob’s coaching, I’ve overcome my fear of lifting heavy weights, improved my 2K rowing time by nearly 20 seconds, and even achieved my first pull-up.
Training six days a week has given me more energy, better focus, healthier habits, and the confidence to push beyond what I thought I could do. My favorite class is Strong Friday because it challenges me mentally as much as physically, and I always leave feeling accomplished.
What makes Concept Fitness special is the community. The coaches provide personal attention in every class, everyone supports one another, and I’ve made friendships that go far beyond the gym.
My advice: If you want to get stronger, build confidence, and be part of a supportive community that feels like family, don’t hesitate to join. You won’t regret it.

Member since: July 2020
My goal has always been to stay active, healthy, and strong. One of my biggest challenges was recovering from my second knee replacement, and I truly believe Concept Fitness made all the difference. Before surgery, the coaches helped me strengthen the muscles around my knee, and afterward they modified every workout until I was ready to get back on the rower. I was back at the gym in just three weeks, and my recovery was much smoother than my first knee replacement.
What keeps me coming back is the incredible community. The coaches and members create a supportive, encouraging environment where everyone wants to see you succeed. Concept Fitness has helped me continue building my confidence, improve my conditioning, and stay consistent with my health.
My advice: If you’re looking for a welcoming gym that truly feels like family, Concept Fitness is the place to be. It’s the first recommendation I give to anyone looking to improve their fitness.

Member since: March 2024
After surviving cancer, I made a commitment to become the healthiest and strongest version of myself. My goals were to lose weight, build stamina, and get stronger—and with the support of Concept Fitness, I’ve achieved all three. I also learned how important proper nutrition is, especially getting enough protein as a vegetarian.
Since joining, I have more energy, sleep better, and feel more grounded every day. One of my proudest moments was conquering my fear of the 18-inch box jump. I was convinced I’d fall, but with encouragement from the coaches, I did it—and it was an incredible feeling.
What makes Concept Fitness special is the welcoming, supportive community. Every class is different, everyone encourages one another, and fitness has become a part of my everyday life.
My advice: Don’t procrastinate—join. It will be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make.

Member since: Spring 2023
I joined Concept Fitness when Concept Crew came to Long Beach High School, and it completely changed my life. My goal was to become stronger and continue improving in rowing, and with Rob and Lizzy’s coaching, I achieved something I never thought possible—I earned the opportunity to row Division I at the University of Delaware.
The training has made me stronger physically, but even more importantly, it has given me confidence, determination, and a belief in what I’m capable of. Looking back, I never imagined I would become a Division I athlete. It’s incredible what a few years of consistent work can accomplish.
The community is unlike any other gym. The coaches genuinely care, the energy is contagious, and every workout leaves you feeling stronger than when you walked in.
My advice: Join as soon as you can. It will change your life.

Member since: January 2024
I’ve been training for over 20 years, but joining Concept Fitness took my training to another level. After discovering HYROX and training here, I competed in HYROX New York and later achieved one of my biggest goals—finishing HYROX Chicago in under one hour.
Fitness has become my outlet for everything. Whether I’m celebrating a win or dealing with stress, I know I’ll feel better after a workout. My favorite classes are Max Work Wednesday and HYROX Sunday because they challenge me mentally just as much as physically.
What stands out most about Concept Fitness is the welcoming community. People of every age, background, and fitness level train together while pushing each other to improve. The coaching has also helped me train with more intention, focusing on proper movement and performance instead of simply getting through a workout.
My advice: Don’t overthink it—just walk through the door. Give yourself time to adapt, stay consistent, and you’ll be amazed by what you can accomplish.
